Early morning rainstorm causes more problems for VDOT

Beltway traffic was snarled for a second morning in a row as an unexpected early morning rain washed away a temporary exit ramp that VDOT constructed overnight.

Following the temporary signs (that for some reason did not wash away) leading to the now nonexistent ramp, commuters found nowhere to go, forcing them to merge back into traffic which in turn led to gridlock.

“We considered replacing the signs,” says a VDOT spokesman, “but we were concerned that might temporarily slow down traffic for like 30 minutes.”

As of noon today, morning commuters are still making their way to work.
